SOSP/SOCC 2011 Registration

How do I register?

You can register for SOSP and/or SOCC 2011 by visiting the link below. Existing registrants may use the same link to view and/or change their registration. Online registration will be available up to October 13.

This online registration tool will accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, or bank transfer and we greatly appreciate attendees using one of these forms of payment. If using one of these forms of payment is not possible, send a note to

What is the early bird deadline?

September 7th is the deadline for early registration.   (More precisely, early registration will close at 0800 GMT on September 8.)  Hotel rooms will be released from our reserved block after this date, so subsequent registrants will not be guaranteed a room at one of the conference hotels.

Can I register on-site?

On-site registration will be possible but only with a credit card and for an additional fee. We will not be prepared to deal with cash.

What are the conference fees?

The conference registration fee schedule is as follows. Note that this includes registration and meals from buffet reception on Sunday evening through lunch on Wednesday. The cost of lodging is not included and depends on the hotel you choose (also in the registration form).

What are the fees for the co-located workshops?

A single registration entitles you to attend any of the workshops on October 23, however you should indicate which workshop you plan to attend so that room sizes can be planned appropriately. You can register only for the workshops (without registering for SOSP) for an additional 15€ cost.

Can I invite a guest to conference events?

Yes.  The registration tool allows you to invite a guest to any or all the evening events, at cost.

What is the cancellation/refund policy?

All requests for refunds of registration fees must be made in writing to the registration chair and received no later than October 1, 2011. Requests received by September 7th will receive a full refund less a €35 fee. For requests received between September 8th and October 1st, the cancellation fee will be €140.

Which accommodation options are available?

All events will be held in the Cascais Miragem Hotel. We recommend that attendees stay in this hotel, if possible. However, the number of rooms available in this hotel will not be enough for all attendees on peak days. Therefore, additional room blocks have been booked in the vicinity of the conference hotel.

Each individual attendee is responsible for her own room, tax and incidental charges upon departure.

Reservations will be subject to the following rules:

  • All room requests require a non-refundable advance deposit in the value of one night stay to guarantee the reservation.

  • A credit card should be provided by the attendee to hold the remaining nights of the reservation.

  • The remaining nights will not be charged until actual check-in or late cancellation.

  • Should a guest desire to cancel their hotel reservation, they must notify the conference organizer, Viagens Abreu S.A -, at least fifteen (15) days prior to scheduled arrival date, otherwise the entire reservation will be charged to the guest.

How can I get a visa support letter?

We will issue a visa support letter for all attendees that are registered in at least one of the events. For visa support letters, please send all requests to  with the following information:

  1. Name and mailing address as it appears on your passport
  2. The name of the conference/workshop you wish to attend
  3. Registration confirmation number
  4. If you are the author of any papers accepted for the conference, please provide the title
  5. Fax number
